Welcome!
Thank you for registering in the Climate Change education project’s platform.
This project and the present platform have been created with the goal of making climate change education more accessible to all teachers, not only to those involved in science. In this way, the topic can be associated with other classes, also to foster the idea that the complex and multi-faced t connected with our everyday life and it is already impacting us in ways we still have to realise in full.
In this section, you will find more resources that the CC-EDU partnership collected and edited a wide range of information and ready-to-use lessons for teachers who want to talk about climate change during their classes. In general, the materials we are offering are divided among reading materials prepared for the teachers’ benefit, to increase their preparation on a topic or knowledge area and activities and infographics that can be used and presented directly to the students, as they have been prepared specifically for their benefit.
CCEDU resources are virtually divided into 2 groups
For direct use by teachers, resources for Teachers’ preparation offer a clear and easy to understand scientific background on climate change
- CCEDU GUIDEBOOK
- CLIMATE CHANGE TOPICS
- TOOLBOX
- ASSESSMENT and FINAL CERTIFICATION
Materials to be used in class, as info-graphics and exercises to be use with the students.
- INFO-GRAPHICS
- CLASS ACTIVITIES
Why are we offering these tools and materials?
The aim of the tools and materials offered by the project is for teachers to :
- Increase their ability to talk about complex topics and simplify them, while remaining faithful to the science
- Understand the complexity of climate change and being able to view it from different angles and perspective
- Learn how to connect climate change issues with other subjects taught in class
- Increase skills and abilities, needed to engage students to have them focus on these important topics
- Understand the “big picture” and ability for an holistic approach to issues related with climate change and their connection and impact on our everyday life
- Learn about new teaching methods for updating their skills for the benefit of their students, present and future
In short the process will be:
- Download and read the TEACHERS’ GUIDE
- Take the TEST
- Select a TOPIC and offer a class ACTIVITY using the suggested materials
Each topic is presented with a Scientific background articles, produced for teachers’ use, to provide an overview on the topic and to prepare them the information they need to be able to present the related issues to their class.
Teachers can use the infographics to introduce a specific topic to their class. The infographics have the aim to inform on an aspect of climate change, to have the children learn about it and be aware about it, without getting scared or creating anxiety, to stimulate a dialogue and show them that there is a way to overcome the issue.
More in details, in order to simplify the complexity of climate change, we selected 12 issues connected with us, such as:
- Teacher’s guidebook
- Air pollution
- Aquatic ecosystems
- Carbon and greenhouse gas management
- Climate change and human health
- Economic implications of climate change
- Extreme meteorological phenomena
- Food shortage
- Global temperature
- Migration of people
- Plantlife and climate change
- Water resources
- Wildlife and climate change
Each topic is presented with Scientific background articles, produced for teachers’ use, to provide an overview on the topic and to prepare them the information they need to be able to present the related issues to their class.
Each topic is connected with different Class activities, such as ready-to-use materials prepared to organize practical activities with the class. They are completed with Teacher Instructions and a description to offer general information to be able to run a successful lesson. More specifically, each activity is presented with an indication of who is the activity more suited for, and what are the skills and tools teachers need to possess to organize it smoothly.
In addition, each topic is supported by positive examples, produced to help teachers to discuss selected topics with students with a positive attitude, to stimulate dialogue, and to show them that there is a way to overcome them. In addition, to enrich and complete the offer for each of the 12 topics, infographics ready to be presented directly to the students have been produced: simple, ‘cute’ and clear representation of the meaning of climate change, its repercussion, and consequences.
To conclude the learning process, teachers can find a Toolbox that offer an explanatory information card for each skill and each tool, useful for teachers not only to talk about Climate Change but also to enrich their lessons and teaching practice with innovative methodologies.
Remember to take the test at the end of the program, and to request certification from the partners!
