Until recently, most assessments of the impact of climate change on the food and agriculture sector have focused on the implications for production and global supply of food, with less consideration of other components of the food chain. This activity takes a broader view and explores the multiple effects that global warming and climate change could have on food systems and food security.

Skills and competencies to be developed Listening skills; content knowledge:

– potential impacts of climate change on food systems and food security -that droughts, increasing in intensity due to climate change, impact people -how climate change plays a role in droughts -storms with unusual amounts of rainfall can cause a flash flood -how droughts or floods affect agriculture

– possible adaptive responses; teamwork; brainstorming skills; ability to organise and carry out a research; ability to present ideas in front of the class.
